Happy Finals Week!

Congratulations on making it to the end of the fall quarter! We wish you the best of luck on your finals, remember to take breaks and get some well-deserved rest.

The Underground Scholar's Winter Wonderland even is happening on Saturday, December 13, 2025. We invite you to take a moment to relax an enjoy the company of our staff and memebers. This celebration is a chance to reflect on your accomplishments throughout the quater. Don't forget to RSVP!

Additionally, the USC Prison Education Project Writers Contest is still open.This is a great opportunity to share your work and participate in a nationwide contest for system-impacted writers.

The National System-Impacted Writers' Contest

Each year, the University of Southern California’s Prison Education Project (PEP) hosts a nationwide writing contest for system-impacted writers. This year, we’re excited to share that the UCI Underground Scholars Program has been invited to participate.

We want to invite all members who engage in creative writing to submit their work. The contest is open now through February 14th, 2026.

Prizes include:

1. Monetary awards: $500 for three Winners; $100 for seven Honorable Mentions. 

2. Publication: 2026 Annual Systems Impacted Writing Contest Chapbook (along with ten contributor copies of the book for contest Winners, and five copies for Honorable Mentions).
